SALLY OGWO OKEY UMAHI

Sally is an author and holds professional certificates on Corporate Governance and Board Evaluation accredited and trained by World Bank- International Financial Corporation (IFC). Sally wrote the books on Corporate Governance “and “Professional Conducts” which have been adopted by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) as Study Packs for the student members.
Currently, Sally is an Executive Director with Platinum Edge Consulting Limited working closely with partners in South Africa and other countries to drive the development and growth of the practice.
Previously, Sally was a Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Nigeria and was focused on driving the delivery of Risk Assurance, Advisory and Board Leadership solutions to clients in private and public sectors.
Sally joined PricewaterhouseCoopers Nigeria in December 1997 and moved to PwC Manchester office, United Kingdom in October 2006 on international secondment, and worked with the Risk Assurance Services Group and was also the key resource providing backbone support to PwC London and Luxembourg offices in delivering Revenue Assurance to the Telecommunications Clients in UK and other European Countries. Her other international work experience spanned across many other countries including Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, Ghana, Mauritius, United Arab Emirates, Republic of Benin and Sierra Leone.
Sally led the successful delivery of many projects in Corporate Governance, Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Control, Internal Audit and Compliance across many countries and multiple industries. Some of the projects Sally has successfully executed include but not limited to the following:
- Combined Assurance Framework Design, Integration and Maturity Level Assessment for clients in the financial services and others sectors.
- Corporate Governance and Board Effectiveness Evaluation Reviews, Framework Design, Implementation and working with company secretaries and the Board to embed corporate governance principles in the day to day business operations. This include Board Induction Training and Recruitment of Non-Executive Directors for clients in financial services and Oil and Gas sectors.
- Development of Risk and Control Registers based on Risk Control Self-Assessment Model, COSO Frameworks, ISO 31000 and other leading practices standards.
- Establishment of new Internal Audit, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Internal Control and Compliance Functions and Transformation of the existing ones to achieve higher operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Regulatory Compliance Assessment and Reporting covering SOX 404, SAS 70, FCPA, AAF, Internal Audit Quality Assessment, Internal Control and Enterprise Risk Management Effectiveness Reviews for Banks, Oil & Gas, Insurance and FMCG clients.
- Revenue and Data Quality Assurance, Fraud Investigations, Internal Control Rationalisation and Optimisation for major telecommunications clients and banks.
- Business Process Reviews and Re-engineering for clients in the Oil & Gas sectors, FMCG and financial services.
Professional Memberships and Academic Qualifications
Sally is a member of the Institute of Directors (IOD) Nigeria and has served in many committees of the institute for several years including Membership & Business Development Committee (M&BDC), Women Directors Development Committee (WDDC) and Corporate Governance Networking Group (CG-NWG) contributing to the advancement of good corporate governance principles and practices in Nigeria and was amongst the professional team that championed the establishment of the Corporate Governance Networking Group of the IOD Center of Corporate Governance Nigeria. Other professional associations Sally belongs to include: Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA),
Society for Corporate Governance of Nigeria (SCGN), and Risk and Insurance Managers Society of Nigeria (RIMSON).
Sally holds MSc. in Computer Science & Engineering from Enugu State University of Science & Technology, BSc in Computer Science from University of Nigeria Nsukka and Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from University of Nigeria Nsukka. Sally is a public speaker and trainer. She has facilitated several training programmes with a number of corporate bodies on corporate governance, Risk Management, Internal Control, Compliance and Internal Auditing.
